A well prepared meal is available cooked in our own kitchen by our cook and her assistant.  We are currently working with the Local Authority to improve upon the already very popular school dinners; our cook has the highest productivity rates in the Vale of Glamorgan. Our school meals comply with the Welsh Governments Appetite for Life guidelines and comprises of fresh produce. The charge for this is £2.50 per day for all pupils.

Pupil Development Grant

The pupil development grant was launched in 2012 and provides additional funding to schools based on the numbers of pupils eligible for Free School Meals. There are number of ways that we use the small amount of money that we receive these include; purchasing resources that support the identification of any additional needs and specific intervention programs that may support pupil's individual learning needs.

Welsh Government Funding for Professional Learning

Welsh Government announces investment in Professional Learning – 12th November 2018

“This is a time of great change in our education system and it will be impossible to deliver our new curriculum without a high-quality education workforce.  That is why we are making it easier for teachers to learn and explore the curriculum, giving them the time they need and not compromising their day to day work or pupils’ learning”

“We are also providing schools with the option of working together to help them make the changes ahead of the new curriculum. This means that staff can be released to be involved in collaborative professional learning and planning, drawing from the very best evidence-based research.”

The plan below indicates how we at Peterston intend to use the additional funding in order to support the professional learning of staff.
